When driving into Atlanta from the South, the first item of the skyline noticed is typically the golden dome of the state capitol. The design of the building is very much like other capital buildings in other states, but the golden dome really makes it noticeable, especially when the bright sunshine is making it glow!
The Johnny Rockets restaurant sign is also noticeable, especially from the parking lot next to the Atlanta Underground entrance on Central Avenue. It also has classical styling, but more from a diner/hamburger joint standpoint in comparison to the capitol building. I thought it supplied a nice contrast against the capitol and the bright blue sky background.
One of the issues with manually bracketing images is the camera shake and movement as result of pushing the buttons in between shots. Even though I use a good tripod, I still have to press the align source images button in Photomatix so that they line up. This image decided to play a little hard to get though. Photomatix viewed some of the movement as ghosting instead of alignment and I did not notice it until after I had uploaded the image to the blog.
It took a couple of tries at tone mapping before I figured it out and used the de-ghosting function in Photomatix to fix it. This added way more time than I intended to spend on this image and will keep more me on my toes the next time around!
